Welcome, friends! I am the GenX Wizard.
“Why the name GenX Wizard,” you might ask. Well, if you were born between 1965 – 1980, congratulations… you are Generation X. I remember my childhood days were filled with unsupervised adventures. We had complete freedom to explore our world until the street lights came on and dinner was on the table. We rode our BMX bikes to every corner of our towns, since there weren’t many boundaries beyond our desire to explore. When we got a little older and actually had money from mowing people’s yards, the mall was the ultimate place to hang out. There were video game arcades, movie theatres, and that one pizza place. There were no cell phones, no internet, and social media didn't exist yet. Since there was no internet or streaming media, we watched and recorded movies and TV programs on VHS (Video Home System) tapes that played in your VCR (Video Cassette Recorder). We witnessed the beginnings of the internet and computers, and the rise, growth, and maturity of video games. Technology has always shaped the world throughout the years, and I'm happy to have seen the beginning of it all and where technology has brought us to today.
Technology was supposed to make our lives easier, but instead seems to have made things more complicated, and is now teaching us the world instead of us exploring our world for ourselves. I remember life being a lot easier growing up, but I was a kid, so the troubles of the world were still years away. Our experiences molded us into who we are, and for everything the GenXers have experienced, I hope I can say it made us strong-minded, no-nonsense, common-sense type of people and not the slackers we were made out to be. With my content, I hope to give my fellow Gen Xers (and everyone else) a place on the internet to chill and share experiences. First, I’ll be doing this through the magic of playing video games. Video games could be described as the common bond between Gen Xers, mainly because we grew up playing video games.
My story is a long one, with a lot of bumps and forks in the road I've taken to today. With all the uncertainty, all the division, and all the hate in today’s world, I hope my small corner of the universe can bring some joy. I want to help bring people together, to make your day a little better than it was, and create a place where you know you belong.
What I would like to share and create for people is the things I love and grew up with: music, TV, movies, and especially video games. I love sci-fi and grew up on movies and shows like Star Wars, Star Trek, Tron, Transformers and video games like Asteroids, Space Invaders, Galaga, Super Mario Bros., Metroid, and Zelda.
I've always been a very private person, but I feel I have something to give to the gaming community. I could write a book about my life, my experiences, my knowledge, and after talking with fellow GenXers over the years, it sounds like we all have been through a lot. Over the past decade, my life has been a rollercoaster. I lost both of my parents, my career, and my first house, all within 10 years, and was also dealing with depression, chronic stress, and anxiety. Some days are better than others, but tomorrow is always a new day. As a Gen-Xer, I’m not getting any younger, but I never gave up, worked on taking care of myself, and I finally achieved my goal of getting my YouTube channels and website going after getting the idea years ago.
Thank you so much for your time, thank you for visiting, and thank you for helping me grow. I wholeheartedly appreciate it and am looking forward to getting to know you all out there in the internet world.
