Hello there! Welcome, my friends, to the GenX Gaming Wizard channel. I am the GenX Wizard and my history with video games goes back to my childhood during the 8-bit video game era. I began my gamer experience with my first Atari and the game Pong. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen at that point in my life.
Later, at my local grocery store, a new video game cabinet showed up and the game was called Super Mario Bros. I loved arcade games but it wasn’t until that Mario game came out that my love for video games was solidified. I loved playing the game and I got really good at it after pumping endless quarters into it. As far as I know, I was the first one in my neighborhood to pass level 7-4.

What came soon after was the NES… the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was Christmas Day; my grandma was staying with us and I wanted a Nintendo as much as Ralphie wanted a Red Ryder BB gun in the movie A Christmas Story. I unwrapped the big gift and the first thing I saw was R.O.B. on the box and then I knew I was a proud owner of… a Nintendo. I had worn out my Atari by then and that Nintendo, to this day, was the best gift I ever received. After Nintendo came the Super Nintendo and that just took my love for video games to another level. Super Mario World, Super Metroid, it was a ‘Super’ system. As I got into my late teens, I started playing video games on the computer and that just opened up a whole other world. I just couldn’t believe the video games coming out on PC around then and the LAN parties were epic.

And then, what showed up about that same time… the Sony PlayStation. I remember going to Blockbuster and renting the console and games for the weekend with a friend of mine. I remember exactly which games we rented; Destruction Derby, Wipeout and another one of my favorite games, Twisted Metal. We didn’t sleep much that weekend and I just had to buy a PlayStation. At this point, it was a legit hobby and I had the opportunity to play most of the games on the majority of systems. Then work and my career got in the way and I didn’t play as much over several years, but I still had my systems and my PC so I was good.

Next came the Xbox 360. I wasn’t a big fan of Microsoft and didn’t care for the first Xbox. My nephew got an Xbox 360 and I got the opportunity to play online games with him. We had a ton of fun playing games like the original Call of Duty games. Our favorite was Modern Warfare 2. I loved the maps, the guns and the online play was too much fun. I played computer games online with my friends for years but the thought of playing other people on the internet via your home video game console was on another level. I grew up playing on consoles and still enjoy playing on consoles.

Over the past decade I didn’t have much opportunity to play video games due to life and work getting in the way. For a time, I found it difficult to just sit down and play video games like I used to. During some extremely rough years, I found a little gem of a game called Minecraft. After I punched my first wood block and received the Got Wood achievement, the rest is history. I've been playing the game since 2010. It has by far the most hours I have ever sunk into a video game and it’s not even close. I created a channel called the ‘GenX Minecraft Wizard’; head over there for anything and everything Minecraft.
I still have a few of my consoles and will dust them off and play them once in a while. I’ll always have a soft spot for the 8-bit games I grew up with. There are so many great games out there and I wish I could play them all. I’ll never take for granted the quantity and quality of video games we have now.

So welcome to the GenX Gaming Wizard channel. I’ll mostly be streaming newer games at first, like Battlefield 6 and Starfield. I plan on streaming games on older systems like the Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, and PlayStation 1 and 2 along with PC games too. I’ll get the opportunity to play some games I haven’t had the opportunity to play yet, like Chrono Trigger, Knights of the Old Republic, Cyberpunk 2077 and Titanfall 2. I’ll be playing old classics from Super Mario Bros. to Duke Nukem to Halo. I’m looking forward to creating videos and streaming some of my favorite and the video game community’s favorite games.

I’m not a video game pro, nor do I claim to be an expert. My hand-eye coordination isn’t anywhere near what it was, but I just love playing video games and would like to share my love and knowledge of video games with my fellow Gen Xers and everyone else out there IRL.
